Pelicans & Parrots: vintage shop on Stoke Newington Road, Dalston

East Londonでも個人的におもしろいショップが続々とオープンしていて注目のDalstonに昨年の10月にオープンした
ビンテージショップPelican & Parrots。
イタリアンVogueやその他様々なメディアにも取り上げられたということですが、
ショップ店内に入って納得です。
取り扱っているビンテージのファッションから動物の剥製、家具や雑貨なども品があって素敵なのですが、
とにかくディスプレイの美しさに魅了されます。
ショップオーナー曰く、ショップにある剥製品は全て何処からアイテムが来ているのかが
分かる証明もあるそうです。
オーナーはとてもお洒落でフレンドリーな方で、ショップにいる間にも訪れてきた
お客一人一人にも丁寧に対応していました。

Pelicans & Parrots opened it’s doors in the summer of August 2010.
It has been described as the “first proper shop” in Dalston. It is a mixture of classic tailored
and trend aware vintage fashion, furniture and interiors.

Contemporary furniture and objects sit alongside one off vintage pieces,
many of which are inspired by a fascination with curiosities from the 17th century.

Most of the pieces sold defy categorization, such as a beautifully constructed Ostrich feather headdress from Trinadad, a Tribal monkey skull
in a Victorian dome, to a pair of late 80′s electric blue high wasted ski pants.

Based in Dalston East London described by Italian vogue as the “coolest place in London”.
Pelicans & Parrots couldn’t help but oblige by creating, ahem…the “coolest shop in London”.
As William Morris said “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful,
or believe to be beautiful”.
